Bitcoin Core Adjusts Security Policy: Vulnerabilities Easily Found by AI to Be Fixed and Disclosed as Soon as Possible

Bollcoin, Oct 23 — Bitcoin Core developers on Thursday merged a security policy change: for vulnerabilities that can be easily discovered or rediscovered through simple large language model (LLM) prompts, the previous long-term confidential disclosure mechanism will no longer apply. Under the new rules, developers can flag such issues as "easy to find" during the vulnerability assessment stage, then backport the fixes to all still-supported versions and release patches plus a security advisory with partial vulnerability details as soon as possible. Previously, Bitcoin Core scheduled disclosure according to vulnerability severity, with medium- and high-severity vulnerabilities usually made public only after the affected versions stopped being maintained.
