Bollcoin reported on October 20, citing the German Press Agency (dpa), that German savings banks (Sparkassen) have begun rolling out cryptocurrency trading in their mobile banking apps starting October 19, initially supporting five assets: BTC, ETH, XRP, SOL and POL, while stablecoins and meme coins are not yet supported. The service is executed by DekaBank, the securities institution under the Savings Banks Finance Group, with custody in cooperation with the Stuttgart Stock Exchange, charging a trading fee of €0.99 per order. The German Savings Banks Association (DSGV) expects 30 to 40 savings banks to join each month, with around 230 already expressing interest in participating, most of which will complete integration by the first half of 2027, potentially covering about 50 million customers.
