HSBC warns AI retail investors: market pace is accelerating, long-term holding strategy isn't enough

Bollcoin, October 22 — The AI investment boom continues, but for retail investors chasing the rally in chip stocks, HSBC's Chief Multi-Asset Strategist Max Kettner has a clear reminder: the market's pace is accelerating, and simply being bullish on AI's long-term prospects does not mean being able to withstand the short-term volatility of related stocks. Kettner said that over the past two years, the market's short-termization trend has clearly intensified. Investors might previously have built a judgment expected to last three to six months based on fundamentals, but now, related moves can sometimes play out within a week. He believes technical indicators, market positioning, and capital flows are having an increasingly large impact on short-term prices, and are not necessarily in sync with corporate fundamentals. For ordinary investors, the biggest challenge may not lie in whether they are bullish on AI, but in whether they can cope with the ever-changing trading rhythm surrounding this theme.
